3 Delhi railway stations set for overhaul

Northern Railway will redevelop 71 railway stations as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, with a total of 508 stations across the country set to be revamped. The project will include the removal of unwanted structures, improved lighting, upgraded parking spaces, and environmentally friendly buildings. The stations will also feature local art and culture through graffiti. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the project on 6 August. Meanwhile, the Railway Land Development Authority has held a pre-bid meeting for the redevelopment of New Delhi Railway Station.

These include three stations in Delhi — Narela, Sabzi Mandi and Delhi Cantt, and 11 others in the National Capital Region . (AFP)

ED arrests OMR scanning firm director in Haryana PSC exam fraud case

Ashwani Kumar alias Ashwani Sharma was taken into custody on August 2 and a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court located in Panchkula sent him to five days of ED custody on Thursday, it said in a statement.

MCD modifies street dog plan for G20 preparation in Delhi

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has revised its order to remove street dogs from several locations in Delhi for less than a week instead of six weeks, following criticism from activists and residents. The order was originally issued in preparation for the G20 Summit in September to prevent inconvenience to delegates and tourists. The revised order now states that only sterilization and immunization of street dogs will be carried out from August 4 to 30, with a four-day drive to pick up street dogs scheduled for the first week of September.

Kejriwal approves 29 shops in Delhi to operate 24x7

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has approved 29 shops and commercial establishments to operate 24x7, which will boost the night time economy of the capital. The files will now be sent to the lieutenant governor for final approval. In the last two years, a total of 552 establishments have been granted approval to operate round-the-clock. The shops and establishments can legally operate 24x7 under certain conditions.
